XOSHEN Presents: An Exhibition in Four Rooms

“This great exhibition is a product of a successful co-op between Ido Cohen and XOSHEN. The objects, seem like they were just born out of the walls, are nesting in THEIR rooms. Sometimes it seems like they are having an intimate conversation without paying any attention to you, the viewer. They kind of "objectifying" us.” Artist Guy Bernard Reichmann, Facebook, 25.12.18

XOSHEN are Liron Ben Zikri, Bar Flesh, Yael Pasmanik and Nimrod Astarhan. In a similar vein to their previous endeavors, in “An Exhibition in Four Rooms” they respond to the specific place and context in which they are displaying. This time around, it’s the four rooms of the Cuckoo’s Nest Gallery: a “hipster” enclave located atop a bar and antique shop on the second floor of what the local gentrification-driven real estate agent will term an “Old Arabic House;” A multi-layered construction steeped in history with colorful peeling walls and decorated windows through which the noise of the crowded and bustling streets can be heard. Using various materials such as sponge, plaster, sound and light, they pulsate the space, making it conduct its different layers and the various structural and functional changes that have been recorded in it over the years.
